When you're opening an article in a database, a few common things come up that make it seem like your article isn't opening. All you see is a gray space where the article should be.

  1. It's loading realllllly slowly. Give it 30 seconds or even a few minutes. Some of these files are big, and if you're on WiFi or a mobile connection, or the database is getting a lot of traffic, it can take a long time.
  2. It's not loading at all. No error message, no loading icon, but no article either. Minimize all your windows one by one. Sometimes your browser pops the PDF up in a new window and puts that window behind all the other ones.
  3. It's not loading at all... because you are a cautious web user, and you have a pop-up blocker. You may need to disable it. For the most current instructions on how to do that, Google how to disable pop up blocker Chrome (or Firefox, or Safari, or Internet Explorer.)
  4. When all else fails, clear your cache. Again, for current instructions on how to do that, Google how to clear cache Chrome (or Firefox, or Safari, or Internet Explorer.)

If your question is actually about the article not having a PDF at all, your answer is here.
