If you are using a piece of software called Adobe Digital Editions on a Mac to read an ebook from our library, sometimes it gives an error code if you got that software from the iTunes store. To fix the problem, uninstall it and download the software again from the Adobe Digital Editions web site - but do not use the App Store button! Use the plain link above it that says "Download Adobe Digital Editions [version number] MacIntosh." Then follow the instructions to install it. It should work perfectly in both the Safari and Chrome browsers.
