When you are using many of our databases and you want to link to a piece of content in it, such as an article, you need to use the permalink (a.k.a. PURL or stable URL.) In most cases, the URL from the address bar of your browser won't work after you've closed your browser or logged out, and it won't work for a person logged in with another account. 

So if you want to save a link to something for later, or to share it with someone else, or to put it in your bibliography, what you need is the unique and permanent URL of that one piece of content - the permalink.

Each database has a different way of getting the permalink. We have a web site that gives instructions on how to do it for each database here:
